Lagos Police Goes Tough On Criminals, 56 Suspected Cultists Arrested

The Lagos State Police Command has gone tough on cultist and criminals in the State as the Commissioner of Police has released his officers to go after the cultists in their hitherto forbidden den.

The Police boss, CP Hakeem Odumosu, restated that the Command will make Lagos State very hot for criminals, especially cultists, who terrorize the good people of the state. He also reaffirmed the Command’s readiness to put an end to criminality in the state.

He confirmed the arrest of fifty suspected armed robbers and cultists at Imota, Igbokuta, Adamo and Emure in Ikorodu area of the state during a sting operation carried out by the Commissioner of Police Strike Force led by SP Abdulfatai Adigun.

The suspects arrested included one Abiodun Abbey a.k.a Oju Ogunle, who confessed to have killed more than twenty two to forty four people in Ikorodu area.

Another victorious arrest was the arrest of 26-year old Gbemila Iyabo, wife of the number one of the Aye confraternity in Igbokuta.


She was arrested with one pump action gun loaded with eight rounds of cartridges. 29-year old Salisu Islamiyat, wife of the number one man of Aye Confraternity, was also arrested with a locally made pistol with some live cartridges.

22-year old Dosumu Oluwaseun, 29-year old Segun Adelaja and thirty eight (38) other male and twelve (12) female suspects were also nabbed.

Items recovered from them were guns, live ammunition and cartridges, assorted charms, berets with confraternity logos and paraphernalia of office of Confraternity.

The Commissioner of Police also confirmed the arrest of the six (6) suspected cultists, who were arrested at Ibeju-Lekki area of the state by the Police operatives attached to Elemoro Division in compliance with directive of the Commissioner of Police on constant raids of the criminal hideouts in Eti-Osa Local Government Area of the state.

The suspects arrested were Adeyemi Hassan, Adesoye Yusuf, Yusuf Sadiku, Ismaila Adebanjo, an ex-convict, who is also the leader of the Aye Confraternity, Mosuru Ojo, and Tajudeen Ramon, all male.

The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Hakeem Odumosu, has put all Area Commanders and Divisional Police Officers in the state on their toes in order to ensure that the state is rid of cultism, crimes and criminality. 
He further charged them to spread and embrace the principles of the Community Policing concept of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Mohammed Abubakar Adamu, in order to have effective policing of their respective areas and the state at large.

He has ordered for prompt investigation and prosecution of the cases as necessary arrangements have been made by the Lagos State Government to consistently fast track judicial processes in the state.
