Lagos Politician and Stalwart of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Olaide John Bello, popularly known as OJB, has tasked the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to conduct credible elections in 2019.

OJB has urged the electoral umpire to conduct free, fair and credible elections in 2019. He made the call on Thursday in Lagos when he granted audience to newsmen who sought his views on national issues.

The former House of Assembly aspirant under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos called on INEC to endeavour to conduct credible elections always. The APC chieftain said that INEC and other agencies involved in the 2019 general elections should strive to ensure that the will of the people is not subverted. He said that the system should allow the people to choose who they want to rule them.

Hon. Olaide Bello also called on President Buhari to assent to the amended Electoral Act, saying it was long overdue. He advised INEC to always obey court orders to ensure proper democratic tenets in the polity while equally addressing the alleged double voters’ registration and the under-aged voters in different parts of the country.

According to him, the enthronement of responsible and credible leadership is achievable if the processes leading to the emergence of those leaders are free, fair and devoid of manipulation or undue interference. OJB urged INEC to shun acts that could derail the smooth conduct of the elections and ensure that peoples’ vote counted. He however, enjoined all Nigerians to vote wisely and avoid political actors that cannot keep to their campaign promises.

He expressed happiness that people were becoming more active and committed to their civic responsibilities going by the way they came out en mass to check the updated voters register in different polling units. He advised Nigerians to come out en mass in the 2019 generation election to exercise their franchise without any fear.
