Lagos Public Works Intensifies Palliative Work On Bad Roads Despite Persistent Rainfall

The Lagos State Public Works Corporation, LSPWC, has continued palliative road works on 96 critical sections along 61 different roads across various Local Governments and Local Council Development Areas within the State despite the persistent rainfall.
A statement issued by the Head, Public Affairs of the Corporation, Mr. Ganiu Lawal affirmed that despite the torrential rainfall in recent times, LSPWC has deployed 1,680 tonnes of granite boulders and 230 tonnes of crushed granite on critical sections along the 61 roads to remedy the failed segments.
According to the release, the palliative works done on some of the roads in the past weeks still serve as part of the preliminary works on the roads earmarked for sectional maintenance immediately the weather improves.
The Corporation noted that Stone Pitching and regulation with Lean Concrete have also been adopted as alternatives to patching of the roads during the inclement weather, assuring that when the weather improves, asphalt will be deployed to seal the failed sections of the roads.
It outlined some of the roads where palliative work was done with granite boulders, crushed granite stones as well as the application of stone pitching and lean concrete as Mowo Ikoga Badagry, Ikorodu-Itoikin Road, Ijora-7up Underbridge, Adeniji-Adele Road, Simpson Street, Moloney/Igbosere Street, Elegbata inward Leventis in Lagos Island, Lawanson-Itire Road, Toyin Street by Ipodo junction, Ikeja, Adegbola Street by Ikeja Local Government, Iyalode Street, Ajeromi-Ifelodun, Ishaga inward Isolo and Surulere as well as Platinum Road, Igbokusu, Eti-Osa.
Others are Oba Sekumade Junction and Bayeiku Road by Oba Omolaja in Ikorodu;  Ejigbo Road, Oshodi-Isolo; Ikotun-Ejigbo Road by Hostel to Ile-Iwe, Alimosho; Okota Road, Oshodi-Isolo; Ogunnusi/Ogba Road and Ogba inward Ojodu; Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway; Opebi Road by Opebi Link Bridge, Salvation Bus Stop; Ikorodu Road; Old Abeokuta Motor Road (Odejobi Street junction to Green Hill Estate frontage); Abiodun Kuye Street, Ifako-Ijaiye; Muson Centre inward Third Mainland Bridge, Lagos Island; Hakeem Balogun/Ashabi Cole, Ikeja; Bankole Street along Isheri Grammar School to Olowora and Omole Phase 2 via Agbedina Street, Kosofe; Bonny Camp to McEwen Bridge on Lagos Island, among other areas.
While maintaining that the discomfort being experienced by motorists is temporary, the Corporation assured Lagosians that the government will fulfil its promises to rebuild all roads and eradicate persistent traffic congestion in the State.
