In a concerted effort to alleviate the hardship faced by residents during these challenging times, the Lagos State Government in collaboration with Ojodu LCDA today initiated a food palliative distribution programme to support vulnerable residents.

The need to provide immediate relief prompted Lagos State Government to lead the 57 Local Councils including Ojodu LCDA to distribute food palliatives to residents and the distribution programme aimed to reach households facing food insecurity and financial strains through a coordinated effort in which food items such as rice, beans, garri, yams, bread and eggs were distributed free to identified beneficiaries within Ojodu LCDA.

Speaking on the initiative, the Executive Chairman Of Ojodu LCDA, Hon Segun Odunmbaku, represented by the Vice Chairman, Hon Bunmi Oluyadi, emphasized the government’s commitment to supporting citizens in times of need.

“We understand the challenges faced by our people and we are dedicated to providing necessary assistance to ensure that every resident has access to food and essential supplies during this period” he said.

Furthermore, he expressed gratitude for the collaborative effort between the State Government and Local Council in addressing the needs of the community.

“By working together, we are making significant impact by ensuring that our residents receive the support they require to weather this storm,” Hon Bunmi Oluyadi remarked.

The food palliative distribution programme was coordinated by the SLG, Hon. Olaide John Bello, HOD Agriculture and Social Services, Mrs. Omisore, Exco Members and Councillors. It was carried out by targeting beneficiaries through the CDCs, Wards, Market Associations, ethnic and vulnerable residents while protocols and guidelines to protect the health and well-being of both beneficiaries and distribution volunteers were strictly observed to ensure a smooth and efficient distribution process.

As the distribution of free and subsidised food palliatives continues, the Lagos State Government and Ojodu LCDA remain committed to supporting residents in need and providing relief to stimulate resilience of the people and overcome these challenges to stimulate socioeconomic development.
