The Supreme Council of Igbo traditional rulers a.k.a Ezendigbo in Lagos State led by their Chairman, Eze Lawrence Nnamdi Eze and Deputy, Eze Vincent Iwobi, have nullified the purported endorsement of the PDP Governorship candidate, Dr Abdul Azeez Olajide Adediran, a.k.a Jandor,by a self acclaimed Eze David Nwosu and his cohorts in Lagos State.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that it was the outcome of the meeting of Council of Ezendigbo, who berated Nwosu and the Igbo political merchants parading themselves as leaders in the State.
Speaking on behalf of the traditional rulers, Eze Lawrence stated that the Igbo have resolved to support the reelection of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu bid and enjoined the Igbo to come out enmass and vote for APC in Lagos State.
He explained that the Igbo, comprising various groups, converged at the APC ICC office in Ikeja and endorsed Governor Sanwo-Olu and there was no going back in the resolve to vote massively for Sanwo-Olu because he demonstrated over the years that he is a friend to Ndigbo.
On the purported endorsement by self acclaimed Ezendigbo of Ikorodu, Eze David Nwosu, he explained that he is not a member of Supreme Council of traditional rulers in Lagos State and he has no power to endorse any candidate on behalf of Ezendigbo because he does not know the role of traditional rulers in the society.
He explained that Ezendigbo offers prayers to candidates and not endorse, stressing that the endorsement of Governor Sanwo-Olu was done by Ohanaeze Ndigbo Lagos State, which the traditional rulers are also members.
“Igbo should disregard the purported endorsement, go out and mobilize for the reelection of Governor Sanwo-Olu reelection because he will protect the interest of Ndigbo in Lagos State” Eze Lawrence stated.
In the same vein, the Deputy Chairman of Igbo Supreme Council of traditional rulers, Eze Vincent Iwobi, urged the members of the public especially the Igbo to discountance the purported endorsement of Jandor because it did not emanate from the traditional rulers as claimed by political jobbers.
In a statement, Eze Iwobi, popularly known as Obi Anioma and Ezendigbo in Shasha kingdom, stated that it has come to his notice the purported endorsement of the PDP Governorship Candidate, Dr. Adediran. He stated that such an endorsement was not done by the traditional rulers and the public should be weary of such group led by one David Nwosu.
He further said that it was important to state that Royal fathers do not endorse politicans because they see all contestants as their children, who come to seek their Royal blessings.
“It’s unfortunate that situations like this are misconstrued, misrepresented, misconceived and presented in a different light. We don’t endorse, we give our blessings and the public should note that Igbo traditional rulers did not endorse the candidate as claimed by the disgruntled elements.
