The Lagos State Productivity Committee has been inaugurated with a charge to stimulate the consciousness of the people towards attaining a higher level of productivity in all sectors of the economy.

The Director-General, National Productivity Centre, Dr. Kashim Akor, gave the advice during the inauguration of the Lagos State Productivity Committee on Thursday at the Public Service Office, Ikeja, adding that the need for improved productivity in any economy cannot be over-emphasised.

He explained that for productivity to take root and grow, its concepts and implications must be familiar to all and sundry, adding that productivity, being a multi-disciplinary issue, needs the honest and full contribution of every citizen both in public and private establishments.

Akor said: “Productivity is the key to prosperity as it is an attitude of the mind that seeks the continuous improvement of that which exists. It, therefore, behoves the committee to work together with the National body to fulfil their mandate and further extend the frontiers of its productivity campaign to all the nooks and crannies of the State”.

“The Committee has a key role to play in complementing the efforts of the National Productivity Centre to raise productivity awareness in Lagos State as stipulated in the committee’s operational guidelines”, he stated.

The representative of the Head of Service and Principal Private Secretary, Mr. Bode Obadina, noted that the Committee will give its best to help enhance the State’s socio-economic development, adding that the inauguration and staffing of the committee is the right step in the right direction.

He maintained that with the committee in place, it would be easier to propagate the message of productivity to all the citizens in the State, just as it will be easy to inculcate a productivity mindset in the teeming populace.

The Permanent Secretary, Public Service Office, who is also the Chairman, Lagos State Productivity Committee, Mrs. Sunkanmi Oyegbola, stated that the Committee would do everything to ensure that it achieves the major objectives for which it was inaugurated.

The newly inaugurated Lagos State Productivity Committee Members include Mrs. Sunkanmi Oyegbola (Chairman), Mr. Sola Obadimu (Vice-Chairman), Mrs. Chinwe Okwuosa (Secretary), Mr. Uwem Menim (Financial Secretary), Mr. Mathew Ajayi (Assistant Financial Secretary), Mr. Femi Ogun (Public Relations Officer), Mr. Olusola Ayodele (Auditor), Mr. Nnamdi Enuah (Member), Mrs. Oluchi Odimoku (Member), Mrs. Osemene Augusta (Member).
