Lagos SWAN Congratulates Obasa, Says His Return As Speaker A Reward Of Good Leadership

The Executive Committee of Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Lagos Chapter has congratulated the newly re-elected, Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt. (Hon.) Mudashiru Obasa.

Minutes after the Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu inaugurated the 10th Assembly of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Obasa’s colleagues unanimously voted him as the Speaker for the third consecutive time on Tuesday.

In a statement made public Tuesday afternoon, Executive Chairman of Lagos SWAN, Ms Olatutu Oladunni hailed the decision of the lawmakers to give Obasa a renewed mandate to the lead Lagos Assembly, adding that it showed that Lagos lawmakers believe in Obasa’s capability and ability to stir the ship of the assembly.

Olatutu said that members of Lagos SWAN had a rosy relationship with the Speaker during his reign in the 9th Assembly and within this period the Lagos sports journalists knew that Obasa is a leader who was passionate about the people and good at what he laid his hands to do. Obasa is indeed a renewed hope of youth advancement.

“We are not surprised that the lawmakers reposed their confidence in Rt. Hon. Obasa once again. This is a testimony that Mr Speaker is at home with his colleagues, and they believe so much in him.

“Mr Speaker has always been a lover of sports, and this showed in the hands of support he extended to us in the last dispensation. We can only congratulate him for returning as the Speaker of the most vibrant House of Assembly in Nigeria.

“The House and indeed Lagos State is lucky to have a leader in Obasa who will join hands with the Governor of the state, Babajide Sanwo-Olu to deliver seamlessly the dividends of democracy to the citizens.

“On behalf of all members of Lagos SWAN; the most vibrant chapter of Sports Writer Association of Nigeria, I say a big congratulation to Mr Speaker,” she said.

According to the Lagos SWAN chairman, the association would be ready to work with Speaker Obasa and “we seek for more of his support and a better working relationship of Lagos SWAN and the Lagos House of Assembly,” Oladunni, who is also a Media Consultant and a member of Diplomatic Protocol Professionals
