Barely few hours after the lawmaker representing Lagos West Senatorial District, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola (Yayi), empowered a fresh set of 480 Constituents, who he had trained in different areas in ICT, the distinguished Senator grandly empowered another set of 2,310 Constituents, who were trained in different vocational skills.
The event, which was in collaboration with the Nigerian Institute for Oil Palm Research, Benin, Edo State, took place on Wednesday 5th April, 2023, at Vantage Point Event Hall, Acme Road, Agidigbi, Lagos
The empowerment programme kicked off with the opening prayers by APC chieftain, Alhaja Ajao, followed by the National Anthem.
One of the dignitaries and a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC in Lagos West, Chief Akin Fadayomi, used the occasion to praise the distinguished lawmaker for offering quality representation over the years. He tasked the graduating participants to maximize the opportunity provided by the empowerment drive of the respected lawmaker to better their lives and contribute their quota to the growth of the Nigerian economy.
In his brief remarks, Senator Adeola Yayi said, “Let me state that in the remaining period of my service as the Senator representing Lagos West Senatorial District, I will continue to deliver effective representation to my constituents in all walks of life with the resources available for the largest Senatorial District in Nigeria in terms of population inclusive of similar trainings and skills acquisition”.
“Today, we are empowering another set of 2,310 Constituents. They have been trained in different vocational skills like advanced solar energy, agricultural value chain, confectionery, fish production, event planning, hair dressing and barbing. They are going to be empowered with the equipment of their various skills, transport allowance and cash grant ranging from N80,000 to N150,000. I congratulate all the beneficiaries of these programmes and urge them to diligently apply the skills learnt in the course of the training for their socioeconomic advancement in the society.”
Senator Solomon Adeola also used the opportunity the event afforded to counsel parents to take good care of their children and not allow them to be used by politicians, who lost the recently concluded elections and had been inciting people to protest against the outcome. He assured the audience that the President-elect, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, possessed the capacity to deliver the dividends of democracy and take Nigeria to enviable heights.
Highpoint of the event was the presentation of different equipment to the 2,310 participants by Senator Solomon Adeola assisted by the dignitaries present. The distinguished lawmaker also gave out cash gift to the participants in order to transport their equipment home while charging them not to contemplate selling the items as it will defeat the purpose of the empowerment initiative.
