Traditional rulers and Baales of Lagos West Senatorial District have endorsed Senator Solomon Adeola Yayi for reelection as the Senator representing the largest Senatorial district in Nigeria.
In two separate meetings at secretariats of Igando –Ikotun LCDA and Alimosho LGA to brief the royal fathers of the commencement of his campaign the Obas of Lagos West speaking through Oba Kabiru Agbabiaka, the Osolo of Isolo and Baale Adefola Okikiola, the Baale of Ijan, for over 250 Baales stated that their allegiance is for APC and the Senator stressing that all of them were in favour of Senator Adeola continuing as senator for his effective representation so far.
The Osolo of Isolo said that the royal majesties of Lagos West were happy with the representation and outspokenness of the senator in his ongoing term adding that they will work to deliver their domains for him and APC as the the way forward for development of Lagos State and Nigeria.
Baale Okikiola equally said that the traditional rulers at the grassroots will continue to support Senaor Adeola for the recognition he accorded them through engineering the formation of “Baales Forum of Lagos West” as well as the donation of a Toyota bus for their use as far back as 2016.
After traditional royal prayers, Senator Adeola promised that if re-elected, he would champion constitutional amendment to give a role for traditional rulers in the country as well as work with the state government for the elevation of Baales to Obas’ status in Lagos state.
“As you must have read, I sponsored 12 Constitutional Amendment bills in the current Senate and two of them are part of the 23 Constitutional Amendment Bills passed by the National Assembly for presidential assent. In the 9th Senate I will pursue a constitutional role for royal fathers in government through constitutional amendment bill instead of ordinary bill as only a constitutionally guaranteed role will ensure the implementation of such law” he stated.
He promised the Baales an additional bus so that each of the divisions in Lagos West namely, Ikeja and Badagry Division will have one each adding that he will continue with his empowermrnt and poverty alleviation programmes for his constituents.
While berating the PDP for their attempt to return to power after 16 years of mismanagement and looting of resources of Nigeria, he said APC is putting Nigeria on the path of positive development while clearing away the rot of PDP administration stressing that the choice before Nigerians is for real development in our infrastructure that is ongoing with well managed resources for a rosy future by APC or a return to the looting days of PDP without at the expense of development of infrastructure.
Over 40 traditional rulers and 250 Baales were present at the occasion attended by Hon. Kehinde Joseph, the Special Adviser to Governor Akinwunmi Ambode and Hon. Abayomi Sodiq, a former ebers of the Lagos State House of Assembly from Ojo LGA.
