Landlady Batters Tenant Over Rent, Sent To Prison

It was really hellish for a female  tenant, Ifeoma Ozougwu who could not pay her house rent and attempted to move her properties out in the night. She was caught by her landlady and battered seriously in Lagos.

The incident happened at Ikotun where both the suspect and the victim reside.

The landlady, Mrs. Patience Shobade reportedly attacked, injured Ifeoma on the jaw and she was hospitalized.

P.M.EXPRESS gathered that the victim was owing an undisclosed amount of money for rent and was unable to pay because of her condition. She reportedly attempted to secretly move her properties and leave the house without settling the rent.

However, the landlady got to know and confronted her when she was about to take them away from her room. There was altercation between the suspect and the victim and in the process the suspect reportedly used an object to inflict injury on her jaw.

The matter was reported to the police at Ikotun Division and Shobade was arrested and detained at the Station.

P.M.EXPRESS gathered the suspect told the police that the victim was owing her rent and wanted to sneak out of the house without paying her.
However, the police charged her for assault and arraigned her before Ejigbo Magistrates court for the alleged offence.

She pleaded not guilty.

The presiding Magistrate, Mrs Jadesola Ajayi granted her bail in the sum of N50,000 with two sureties in like sum.

She was remanded in prison custody pending when she will perfect her bail condition.
The matter was adjourned till 11 December, 2017.
