The police have arrested four elder citizens and charged to court from where they were remanded in prison for allegedly fighting in the public with dangerous weapons in Isolo, Lagos, Nigeria.
The suspects are a 69-year old landlord, Maxwell Nwosu and his wife, Florence Nwosu, 69 and two tenants, Edmond Ndubusisi, 59 and Blessing Odumegwu, 69.
The incident happened at 19, Ebiere street in Isolo where the suspects reside.
They were charged with conduct likely to cause breach of public peace by using dangerous weapons such as kitchen knife, bottles among others.
P.M.EXPRESS gathered that the suspects fought for several hours and when the fight remained unabated, one of their neighbours contacted the police at Aswani division and the suspects were all arrested and taken to court.
During the fight, a female tenant, Uloma Obodozie, 17, was beaten to coma and seriously injured.
She was rushed to Isolo General hospital where she is receiving treatment.
It was gathered that the landlady hit her (Uloma) head with a bottle and she collapsed.
Her action caused the fight which involved the suspects who are now in custody.
They pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Mr A.U. Ojei reminded the court the suspects were elderly citizens which suppose to be an example to the younger ones and he was ready for their trial for justice.
However, the presiding Magistrate, Mrs A.K. Shonubi granted them bail in the sum of N50,000 each with one surety in like sum.
The court also ordered that the surety must show evidence of tax payment for three years.
They were remanded in prison custody pending when they will perfect the bail condition.
The matter was adjourned till 15 February 2017.
