The Lagos State Drivers’ Institute (LASDRI) has conducted an on-site Professional Mandatory Training Programme for 100 drivers in the employment of the Lagos State Public Works Corporation (LSPWC), in Ojodu-Berger, Lagos.
Addressing participants during the event, the General Manager of the Institute, Mrs. Afusat Tiamiyu, represented by the Director, Training, Mrs. Adeola Ajayi, stated that the mandatory Professional Drivers Training was organised in compliance with the mandate of the Lagos State Drivers’ Institute to re-certify and update the skills of professional drivers at least once a year.
She explained further that the training being acquired is to re-orientate the drivers and ensure that fatalities are eradicated or reduced to the barest minimum on Lagos roads.
Also speaking, the General Manager of the Public Works Corporation, Engineer Olufemi Daramola, represented by the Corporation Secretary/Head of Administration and Human Resources, Mr. Lateef Bolarinwa, expressed his appreciation to the State Government and LASDRI for training the drivers.
While noting that the fees for the training had been paid for each driver by the Lagos State Government to ensure that they all benefit from the programme, Daramola charged the drivers to make the best use of the opportunity and always put the training into practice in their daily duties.
He, however, warned that any of the drivers caught contravening the traffic laws and regulations after the training exercise will be sanctioned accordingly.
