LAWMA Takes Community Clean-Up Campaign To Epe

The Chairman, Epe Local Government, Princess Surah Olayemi Animashaun, has promised to work with the Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA), by mobilising residents to pay their waste bills and properly dispose of their waste.

She made the promise during the LAWMA’s community clean-up campaign at the local government over the weekend, commending the agency for the initiative and admonishing residents to reciprocate the gesture by putting up an environment-friendly habit.

In his address at the campaign held at the Council Secretariat, Ita Marun, Epe, the Managing Director/CEO, Mr. Ibrahim Odumboni, expressed displeasure at the poor waste disposal habit of the people, as well as their poor response to payment for the evacuation of households’ generated waste.

Soliciting for the collaboration of the community towards developing the LAWMA Academy in the area, Odumboni promised to improve on waste collection and management in Epe.

High Chief Agbon, who represented the Oloja of Epe, HRH Oba Kamorudeen Ishola Animashaun, lauded the effort of LAWMA, but, however, solicited for recruitment of more personnel to expand the existing workforce and improved pay package for the staff to boost their morale.

Similarly, Chief Quadri Ojiga Ogboro, who represented the Olu Epe, HRH Sheffield Olatunji Adewale, commended the Managing Director for his determination to make Epe one of the cleanest cities in the State.

Alhaji Ogundipe Akewushola, Vice-Chairman of the Community Development Committee in Epe, chronicled the operations of LAWMA in the town since the 80s and expressed deep appreciation of its performance so far.

Also in attendance were the Chief Technical Officer of LAWMA, Dr. Olorunwa Tijani; AGM Admin, Mr. Taoreed Dosumu and AGM East II Operations, Mrs. Bola Adewumi, among others.
