The legislature has been described as the backbone of Akwa Ibom State Governor’s Completion Agenda as captured in the Budget.

This was the position of Elder Aniekan Uko, the Member Representing Ibesikpo Asutan in the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, recently while leading the House Committee on Special Projects on oversight visits to inspect level of work done on some projects.

At the Four Point by Sheraton Hotel, Elder Uko, while stressing that oversight was paramount to ensure that government spends monies judiciously, commended the Commissioner for Special Duties and Aviation Development, Rt. Hon. Okpolupum Etteh, for seeing that contractors handling the project adhere to contractual terms adding that the hotel will aid in bringing in tourists to the area who will also harness the vast potentials of tourism.

He tasked Marriot, managers of the hotel, to carry indigenes of the State along when floating employment to fill positions in the hotel.

At the second runway presently constructed by Gitto, Elder Uko tasked the firm to show seriousness as the legislature would not take stories or delay of the project.

At the 21-storey office complex handled by VKS, the Committee Chairman commended the contractors while also passing a vote of confidence on the Commissioner for his superb supervisory role. He also used the occasion to commend the State Governor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel, for consistently keeping to his promises.

The Committee members, who were taken round the three project sites by the Commissioner for Special Duties and Aviation Development, Mr. Okpolupm Etteh, commended the Legislature for appropriating funds for the project and the State Governor for all the support, assuring that the projects, which will stand the test of time, will be completed within the stipulated period.
