The Imo State Deputy Governor, Prof. Placid Njoku, has described the indigenes of Owerri Nchi ise as good and energetic people, with rich cultural heritage.
The Deputy Governor said this when he represented the Governor, Senator Hope Uzodinma, at the 2021 Oru Owere Festival held over the weekend.
Prof. Njoku noted that the administration of Senator Uzodinma has come to show that it is possible for Owerri and Imo State to have good governance citing the massive road constructions and other good policies the 3R Government is engaged in.
The number two citizen of the state charged the Owerri people to develop the Oru Owere festival into an international event, adding that Government is poised to translate the culture of Imo people and let the world see its beauty.
The Deputy Governor expressed great joy at the chieftaincy title of “High Chief Onwa Owere Nchi Ise”, bestowed on the Governor, Senator Hope Uzodinma, and ” High Chief Akaraugo Owere Nchi Ise” on the first lady, by the Five Traditional rulers of Owerri community.
Presenting an address earlier, the President General, Owerri Community Assembly, Chief Felix Chidi Ngoka, said the Owerri people were captivated by the involvement of the present Government to this year’s Oru Owere Festival, expressing their heartfelt gratitude to the Governor.
He stressed that Oru owere Festival affords them the opportunity to pay deserving tribute to the patriotic vision of their founding fathers, urging all to keep the vision alive.
