The whizzing buzz over the Federal Government announcement of the sack of the League Management Company on Friday, September 9, 2022, as an illegal body has continued to attract mixed reactions in the football community.

Reacting to the development, one of the major stakeholders in Nigerian football, Prince Dapo Ajibade, commended the Federal Government through the Office of the Ministry of Sports over the  sack of the LMC, which he described as an illegal and fraudulent contraption that has done Nigerian football more harm than good since its birth.

“It is indeed, a heartwarming decision by the government to sack the LMC which had been operating illegally for several years. It is painful to recall the fraudulent, deceitful, ineptitudeness and myopic administration of Nigerian league football by the leadership of the LMC.

“I believe Chief Sunday Dare has done the right thing to save our local football from further destruction by the pack of greedy, corrupt and inefficient administrators, who have constituted themselves to overlords of Nigerian football,” Ajibade, a former Chairman of Sunshine Stars Football Club of Akure and Ondo State Football Agency, stated.

Ajibade who is presently the Director-General of Kanu International Footbal Academy (KIFA), reputed to be the largest football academy in Africa, with over 130 centres across the country, went on to berate the supposedly stakeholders in Nigeria football over their silence since this latest development.

“I must say, I am disappointed but not surprised by what I’d call conspirational silence by all those assumed to be critical stakeholders in Nigerian football on this new development. This silence only shows that some of the critical stakeholders are abettors and conspirators of the age-long maladministration bedeviling Nigerian football league,” the renowned football administrator remarked.

He went on to further describe the sports minister, Sunday Dare, as a brave Nigerian with genuine passion for the development of sports in Nigeria.

“Chief Sunday Dare has once again proven himself as a courageous, brave and responsible leader of Nigerian sports. Many would want to recall his roles in several other sports, and most recently, the basketball issues. However, I tell you, it takes only a responsible, brave and responsive leader to retract his steps and listen to the demands of the people, like he did on the NBBF matter,” Ajibade noted.

He further advised the sports minister to leave no stones unturned in his selfless moves to save Nigerian sports, particularly, from those raping it, in the guise as administrators.
