The Candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the forthcoming Anambra gubernatorial race, Senator Andy Uba, has urged his fellow contestant, Professor Charles Soludo, not to quit partisan politics after the contest.

In a reaction to claims by Soludo, candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, that the party would cease to exist should it lose the November 6, 2021 poll, Uba counselled the Professor of Economics to rather begin to think about how to rejuvenate the party.

Soludo had yesterday, Tuesday, September 28, 2021 at a campaign rally at Akpo, Aguata Local Government area of the state, told bewildered members of his party that “losing the election would be the end of APGA”.

“We cannot afford to lose this election because if we lose this election, it will be the end of APGA. We need to work together and make sure we win this election(in order) to survive and carry on the legacy of the party,” the APGA flag bearer said.

He spoke on a day three Local Government chairmen and 75 ward chairmen of APGA – including that of Governor Willie Obiano – defected to the APC.

But in a release signed by Hon. Victor Afam Ogene, Director, Media and Publicity, Senator Andy Uba Governorship Campaign Organisation, SAUGCO, Prof. Soludo was enjoined to begin tinkering with ways of rejuvenating APGA, so as to ensure it’s survival as a political party.

“While contesting and winning elections are legitimate aspirations of both political parties and their candidates, they do not solely define a political party.”

“So, for the APGA candidate to wish his party to go into extinction, in the likely outcome of a loss in the forthcoming election clearly shows that he is only in the race to win, and not to help nurture the country’s political culture,” Hon. Ogene said.
