Tottenham star, Lucas Moura, did not join Manchester United because Jose Mourinho wanted two different players instead, according to reports.MOURA
Tottenham star Moura was the star of the show as the north London giants battled their way past Ajax and into the Champions League final on Wednesday night.
The Brazil international, who was offered to Manchester United in January 2018, struck a sublime hat-trick as Spurs beat Ajax 3-2 to join Liverpool in next month’s blockbuster.
Tottenham star, Moura, could have become a United player, with PSG offering the player during his time in the Parc des Princes. Ultimately, however, the 26-year-old decided to head to north London instead.
And the Manchester Evening News say Mourinho did not move for Moura during his time as United boss because of his interest in two players.
The 56-year-old was hellbent on landing Ivan Perisic.
Perisic had seen a move to United fail mere months previously, with Ed Woodward refusing to meet Inter Milan’s £48million asking price.
Despite that, though, Mourinho was keen to strike a deal.
And he thought Perisic would have been a better fit for United than Moura, who was out of favour at PSG at the time.
The MEN say Mourinho also had an interest in Chelsea’s Willian.
The duo worked well together at Stamford Bridge, where they won the Premier League and EFL Cup.
But United again failed to land their man with the Samba star choosing to stay in west London.
Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino, meanwhile, lauded Lucas Moura after his Ajax treble.
“The emotion is amazing, thank you to football,” he said after the final whistle.
