A 20-Year old man, Abiodun Ajileye, has expressed delight by opting to go to prison than to refund about N378,000 he allegedly stole from his boss, Abiodun Olayinka, after he was reportedly caught using the money to play gamble in order to become rich in Lagos.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that Ajileye was arrested and charged before the Isolo Magistrates Court for stealing the money, using it to play Naijabet lottery and it failed.
He pleaded not guilty before the Court and was granted bail for trial which lasted for several months.
The prosecutor, Oje Uagbale, successfully prosecuted him and he was found guilty of the charges against him.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. O. A Teluwo, sentenced him to one year imprisonment or refund the money he stole to the owner in order to regain freedom.
Surprisingly, he chose to serve the sentence instead of refunding the money when he realised that if he served he will not refund the money any longer, and so chose to go to prison.
The convicted Ajileye expressed satisfaction and entered into the prison van and the owner of the money was shocked that he chose to go to prison and his money was gone.

He then confessed that he used it to play gamble.
The matter was reported to the Police at Isolo Division and he was arrested. After interrogation, he was charged to Court, where he was found guilty and sentenced accordingly.
He was granted bail in the sum of N50,000 with two sureties in like sum before the trial commenced and he was eventually jailed.
Ajileye was said to be happy that after serving the jail term, his boss will leave him to start a new life.
