A 20-year old man, Mukata Ladam, has landed in trouble in Lagos State for allegedly engaging his neighbour’s 8-year old girl in sex.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that he has been arrested and charged for defilement.
The incident happened on 20th October, 2023, at Railway Station, Agege area of Lagos, where they reside.
According to the Police, the suspect, Ladam, allegedly lured the victim into an apartment and penetrated her private part in the process.
Consequently, he was arrested by the Police at Isokoko Division and detained at the station for interrogation over his alleged conduct. And during the interrogation, he initially denied but the victim was brought before him and he could not deny any longer.
The Police found him culpable and subsequently charged him before the Ogba Magistrate Court for the alleged offence, which contravened Sections 137 and 261 of the Criminal Code.
The Court did not take his plea when he was arraigned following a motion moved by the prosecutor,  Inspector Lucky Ihiehie, asking the Court to refer the matter to the DPP for legal advice because of the nature of the alleged offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. O.A. Layinka, ordered his remand in custody pending the outcome of the DPP’s advice and directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send it to the DPP.
The matter was adjourned for mention while the defendant was remanded in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when the DPP’s report will be ready, which will determine if the matter will be transferred to the High Court or not over jurisdiction.
