The residents of 5th Avenue, Abesan Estate, Ipaja area of Lagos, expressed shocked over the death of a 20-year old man, Mike Oboyi, who was stabbed to death by his co-worker, Joshua Mike, during a public fight.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the deceased, Mike Oboyi, was said to have engaged his co-worker, Joshua Mike, in a public fight over an undisclosed disagreement between them, which started with hot exchange of words but later led to fighting.
The duo were said to be working for the same boss at the car wash centre before both engaged themselves in a fight that eventually claimed the life of one of them.
During the fight, Joshua allegedly stabbed Mike on the neck. He was said to have bled profusely and was rushed to the medical service community hospital in the area for treatment. But few hours later, Mike died in the hospital due to the serious injury he sustained during the fight.
The corpse has been deposited at Igando General Hospital morgue and the matter was reported to Ipaja Police Division. The Police went to the scene and recovered the corpse while Joshua fled immediately he committed the dastardly act.
According to the residents, the Police started manhunt for the suspect and through intelligence gathering by detectives at Ipaja Division, the suspect was arrested at Agege area of Lagos on his way to board a vehicle going to the East.
He has been transferred to the State CID, Yaba, for further investigation.
The suspect risks life imprisonment if he is tried and found guilty before the Court for murder but that will be after the conclusion of investigation by the Police.
The alleged murder was confirmed by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, who stated that the suspect was in custody undergoing interrogation and will be charged before the Court for prosecution after the conclusion of investigation by the Police.
