Man, 21, Arrested For Burgling Shop & Carting Away N5m Property At GRA

A 21-year old security guard, Hassan Sallu, has been arrested and charged in Lagos State for allegedly burgling a shop and carting away property worth N5m.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened on 28th day of February, 2026, at about 0225hrs, at Sobo Arobiodu Street by Remi Fani Kayode Street, GRA, Ikeja, Lagos.
According to the Police, the suspect conspired with others now at large, burgled the shop and stole the items belonging to Ralph Shubert. The owner later discovered what happened and reported to the Police at Ikeja Division. The operatives moved into action, eventually arrested and detained the suspect at the station for interrogation over the alleged offence.
After thorough interrogation, the Police found him culpable and charged him before the Ogba Magistrate Court for the alleged offence, which attracts several years of imprisonment.
The charges read:
COUNT I: “That you, Hassan Sallu ‘m’ and others now at large, on the 28th day of February, 2026 at about 0225hrs, at No. 97, Sobo Arobiodu Street by Remi Fani Kayode Street, GRA Ikeja Lagos, in the Ikeja Magisterial District, did conspire with others now at large to commit felony to wit stealing and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 411 and punishable under Section 412 of criminal law of Lagos State, 2015.”
COUNT II: “That you, Hassan Saliu ‘m’ and others now at large, on the same date, time and place in the aforesaid Magisterial District, did burgle the store of one Ralph Shubert ‘m’ and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 306 and punishable under Section 307 of Criminal Laws of Lagos State. 2015.”
COUNT III :”That you, Hassan Saliu ‘m’ and others now at large, on the same date, time and place in the aforesaid Magisterial District, did steal seven boxes of inverter batteries, two flat screen monitor and two radio base set all value N5,000,000.00 (five million Naira only), properties of one Ralph Shubert ‘m’ and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 280 and punishable under Section 287 of Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015.”
He pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Supol Josephine Ihkayere, asked the Court to give a date for hearing since he pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that he actually committed the alleged offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mr. L.A. Owolabi, granted him bail with two sureties who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment while addresses will be verified by the Court.
The matter was adjourned for mention while the defendant was remanded in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when he will perfect his bail conditions.
