A 21-year old man, Abdullahi Babatunde has been arrested and charged in Lagos State for allegedly digging out human skull from a grave under the bridge.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened on 22nd March, 2025, at night at Obasanjo Bridge, Alagbado area of Lagos.

According to the Police, the suspect went to the place around 11pm with some tools. He was said to be digging out human skull from the grave before the Police from Alagbado Division, who were on routine monitoring in the area caught him.

He was consequently arrested and detained at the station with the human skull recovered as exhibit for interrogation over his alleged conduct.

After thorough interrogation, the Police found him culpable and charged him before the Ogba Magistrate Court for the alleged offence, which attracts several years of imprisonment.

The charge read:

“That you, Abdullahi Babatunde Tijani “M” on the 22nd day of March, 2025 at about 1130hrs at Obasanjo Bridge, Alagbado, Lagos State in the Ikeja Magisterial District, did unlawful dig out human skull already buried and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 165 (b) of the criminal laws of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.”

However, he pleaded not guilty.

The prosecutor, Supol Victor Eruada, asked the Court to give a date for hearing since he pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that he actually committed the alleged offence.

The Presiding Chief Magistrate, Mrs. O. Kusanu, granted him bail with two sureties, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment while addresses will be verified by the Court.

The matter was adjourned for mention while the defendant was remanded in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when he will perfect his bail conditions.
