Man, 22, Arrested For Stealing Woman’s Underwears & Other Items At An Estate

A 22-year old man, Wale John, has been arrested and charged for allegedly burgling a woman’s house at an estate in Lagos State and stealing her underwears and other items to resale.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Dosunmu Street, Alogba Estate, Ikorodu area of Lagos.
The suspect aside stealing the underwears belonging to Bolanle Ogunsanya worth N30,000, also stole other items including phone, T-shirts,  wristwatch and other valuables worth over N700,000.
However, while he tried to escape, he was caught and handed over to the Police. He was detained for interrogation over his alleged conduct and while there, he confessed to have stolen the items which he intended to sell to make some money.
The Police found him culpable and charged him before the Ogba Magistrate Court for the alleged burglary and stealing.
The charges read:
COUNT 1: That you, Wale John ‘M’, on or before the 19th day of October, 2024, at about 1200hrs at No 50 Dosunmu Street, Alogba Estate, Ikorodu Lagos State, in the Lagos Magisterial District, did break into the house of one Bolanle Ogunsanya ‘f’ of No 50, Desunmu Street, Alogba Estate, Ikorodu, with intent to commit felony and thereby committed an offence contrary and punishable under Section 310 of the criminal Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.”
COUNT II: That you, Wale John ‘M’, on the same date, time and place in the aforesaid Magisterial district, did steal one Samsung A047 Phone valued One Hundred and Two Thousand Naira (N120,000.00), Two Wrist Watches valued One Hundred Thousand Naira (N100,000.00), Ten underwears valued Three Thousand Naira each (N3,000.00), Five T-shirts valued Fifteen Thousand Naira each (N15,000.00) and Three Clothes valued Twenty Thousand Naira each (N20,000.00) and the sum of three Hundred Thousand naira (N300,000.00) total Seven Hundred and Eight-seven Thousand Naira (N785,000.00) property of one Bolanle Ogunsanya ‘f’ of No 50, Dosunmu Street, Alogba Estate, Ikorodu and thereby committed an offence under Section 280 and punishable under Section 287 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.”
He pleaded not guilty when he was arraigned.
The prosecutor, Supol Akeem Raji, then asked the Court to give a date for hearing since he pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that he actually committed the alleged offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mr. L.A. Owolabi, granted him bail with two sureties, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment while addresses will be verified by the Court.
The matter was adjourned for mention while the defendants were remanded in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when he will perfect his bail conditions.
