Man, 22, Docked For Stabbing 50-Year Old Mother To Death

A 22-year old man, Ibrahim Musa, has been arrested in Kano State for allegedly stabbing his 50-year old biological mHajaraother, Hajara, to death.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened on 3rd May, 2023, at Rimin Kebe Quarters, Nassarawa Local Government Area of Kano, where they reside.
The suspect has been charged before the Magistrates’ Court sitting in Kano for the alleged murder.
The Police did not disclose why the defendant killed his biological mother in such brutal attack, which left the mother bleeding to death.
The Prosecution Counsel, Mrs Rabi’a Sa’ad, told the Court that the defendant  on the same date at about 6.pm stabbed his mother, Hajara, with a sharp knife on different parts of her body.
As a result, she sustained various injuries and was rushed to Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital, where she was confirmed dead by a medical doctor.
He pleaded not guilty when he was arraigned as the Police stated that the offence contravened the provisions of Section 221 of the Penal Code.
The Presiding Magistrate, Ibrahim Almustafa-Kofarmata, ordered the defendant to be remanded in custody and directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send it to the Director of Public Prosecution ( DPP) for legal advice.
The matter was adjourned till 27th June, 2023, for further mention for the report of the DPP’s advice to be made available, which will determine if the matter will be transferred to the High Court or not over jurisdiction.
