A 13-year old girl has been traumatized after their neighbour lured her in sex, recorded it on his phone and then started using it to extort money from her.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Alaba area, Ojo Local Government of Lagos, where they reside.
When the girl stopped bringing money, the 22-year old suspect, Augustine Ebuka  Achilonu, reportedly posted the video to her school friends and also shared on social media while tagging the girl’s mother to watch.

P.M.EXPRESS gathered that the incident happened when victim’s parents went out, and then the suspect, Ebuka, sneaked into their apartment and lured her into the act.He was said to have used his phone to record the act and when the girl complained, he assured her that he will delete it later but he went on and started using it to extort money from her. It was also gathered that while it lasted, the victim kept stealing her parents money in order to placate Ebuka over the threat. And when she could not bring money any longer, he shared the video with her friends and the mother.

The dastardly act was reported to the Police at Alaba Division and Ebuka was arrested. He was later transferred to the SCIID Panti, Yaba, for defilement and his conduct by recording the video and posting same on the social media. The Police also arrested other suspects, mainly under aged school mates, who shared the video on the social media, and charged them before the Court and they remained in Correctional Centre for conspiracy.
However, at the SCIID, Panti, the prime suspect, Ebuka, was merely charged before the Yaba Magistrates Court for lesser offence and the charge of statutory rape was dropped. The prosecutor, Supol Thomas, did not object to his being granted bail. Thus, the Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. K.B. Ayeye, granted Ebuka bail in the sum of N250, 000 with two sureties in like sum.He was remanded in prison custody pending when he will perfect his bail conditions.

The manner the Police at SCIID, Panti, treated the matter by charging Ebuka with lesser offence has sparked protests in the social media as a group, known as Advocate for Children and Vulnerable Persons Network, has urged the Police to ensure that the victim get justice by placing the right charge against the defendants.Comrade Adeyimi Akin-Akala noted that the victim was traumatized and has not recovered from the shock since the incident happened. He said that the only thing that will restore her confidence is justice which the Government owes her through the Police.
