A 23-year-old man, Oluwakunmi Damilola, has been arraigned before a Magistrate Court in Ikeja, Lagos, over allegations of conspiracy, conduct likely to cause breach of peace, and theft of a Toyota Tundra valued at N10 million.
According to the charge sheet, the incident was alleged to have occurred on May 17, 2026, at about 8:15pm. The location stated is No. 51, Ibijoke Street, Oregun, Ikeja, within the Lagos Magisterial District.
The defendant was arraigned alongside others who are currently at large. The case was filed by the Commissioner of Police against Oluwakunmi Damilola.
In Count One, the prosecution alleged that Oluwakunmi Damilola and others at large conspired among themselves to commit an offense. The charge stated that the alleged act took place at the address and time mentioned above.
The offence was said to be contrary to and punishable under Section 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2015. The prosecution told the court that the conspiracy was planned at the scene.
Count Two relates to breach of peace. Police alleged that on the same date, time, and place, the defendant and others at large conducted themselves in a manner likely to cause a breach of peace.
The prosecution said the alleged conduct violated Section 165 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015. According to the charge, the action created tension within the area.
In Count Three, the defendant was charged with theft. The Police alleged that Oluwakunmi Damilola and others at large stole one Toyota Tundra with Registration Number LSD 990 DH, White in colour.
The vehicle was said to be valued at Ten Million Naira and is the property of one Oghilabu Gregory of Lagos State. The prosecution stated that the alleged theft contravened Section 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
Investigations into the matter were carried out by officers from Alausa Division, including CSP Shokunbi Toyosi and PC Solomon Blessing. Their details were listed on the charge sheet for official record.
During arraignment, the particulars of the offence were read to the defendant in open court. He pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, SP Philip Ademigbuji, asked the Court to give a date for hearing to enable the Police to prove the allegations.
The presiding Magistrate, Mrs. O. Kusanu, granted him bail with two sureties who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment.
Legal observers note that the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty by a competent court of law. The matter was adjourned to allow the prosecution time to assemble witnesses and evidence for trial in line with due process.
