Man, 23, In Trouble For Stealing Pen & Cashew Nuts Inside Jendol Superstore

A 23-year old man, Onyejiaka Emmanuel, has landed in trouble in Lagos State for allegedly entering the popular Jendol Superstore and stealing a pen, one marker and three packs of cashew nut.

 

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the management handed him over to the Police for prosecution to serve as deterrent to others who might want to steal from Jendor Superstore in future.

 

The incident happened on 11th July, 2025, at the Jendol Superstore located at Ipaja Road, Ipaja area of Lagos.

 

According to the Police, the suspect entered into the superstore, stole the items and while he tried to escape, the security guards on duty caught him red handed. He was then handed over to the Police at Ipaja Division for interrogation over his alleged conduct.

 

After thorough interrogation, the Police found him culpable and consequently charged him before the Ejigbo Magistrate Court for the alleged offence which attracts several years of imprisonment.

 

The charges read:

“That you, Onyejiaka Emmauel ‘M’ on the 11th of July, 2025 at the 1700hrs at 201. Ipaja Road, Ipaja, Lagos in the Magisterial District, did conduct yourself in a manner likely to cause the breach of peace by entering into Jendol superstore and stealing Four pieces of pen, One Marker and three Packs of Cashew Nuts Valued (One Hundred and Fifteen Thousand, one Hundred and Eighty Naira) N115,180:00 property of Jendol Super Store and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 168(la) (d) of the Criminal Laws of offence punishable Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.”

 

COUNT II:”That you, Onyejiaka Emmanuel ‘M’ on the same date, time and place in the aforementioned Magisterial District, did unlawfully steal  One Power Bank, Four pieces of pen, One Marker and three Packs of Cashew Nuts Valued (One Hundred and Fifteen Thousand, one Hundred and Eighty Naira) N115,180:00 property of Jendol Super Store and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 280 and punishable under Section 287 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.”

 

However, he pleaded not guilty.

 

The prosecutor  Inspector Simeon Njue, then asked the Court to give a date for hearing since he pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that he actually committed the alleged offence.

 

The Presiding Magistrate, Mr. T.A. Popoola, granted him bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties in like sum, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment while addresses will be verified by the Court.

 

The matter was adjourned till 1st September, 2025, for mention while the defendant was remanded in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when he will perfect his bail conditions.
