Man, 24, Arraigned For Allegedly Receiving N62m Stolen Motorcycle Spare Parts At Trade Fair

A 24-year old man, Shehu Usman, has been arrested and charged in Lagos State for allegedly receiving stolen motorcycle spare parts worth N62m belonging to David Chiemerie Ekweanua at Trade Fair Fair Complex.

 

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened on 4th JUNE, 2025 at ASPAMDA section of the Trade Fair Complex, Lagos.

 

According to the Police, some undisclosed persons went where the complainant kept the items, stole them and sold to the suspect and the missing items were traced to him.

 

The matter was reported to the Police at Trade Fair Complex Division. The suspect was arrested and detained at the station for interrogation over his alleged conduct.

The Police found him culpable after interrogation and charged him before the Ojo Magistrate Court for the alleged offence which attracts several years of imprisonment.

 

The charges read:

“That you, Shehu Usman ‘m’, and others in Court in Charge No. OJ/1/116/2025, on or before 4th day of June 2025, during the day time at ASPAMDA, Trade Fair Complex, Lagos State in the Lagos magisterial district, did conspire among yourselves to commit felony to wit Stealing and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2015.”

 

COUNT II:”That you Shehu Usman ‘m’, on the same date, time and place in the aforesaid magisterial district, did dishonestly receive some quantity of assorted motocycle tyres and tubes valued Sixty-Two Million, Nine Hundred and Forty-Five Thousand, Five Hundred Naira (62,945,500.00) property of one David Chiemerie Ekweanua ‘m’ knowing same to be stolen or fraudulently obtained and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 328(1) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2015.”

 

However, he pleaded not guilty.

 

The prosecutor, Supol Dr Uche Simeon, then asked the Court to give a date for hearing since he pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that he actually committed the alleged offence.

 

The Presiding Magistrate, Mr. L.K.J. Layeni, granted him bail in the sum of N1m with two sureties in like sum, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment while addresses will be verified by the Court.

 

The matter was adjourned for mention while the defendant was remanded in custody at the correctional center pending when he will perfect his bail conditions.
