A 24-year old man, Chinedu Ezeani, has landed into trouble after he went to a popular super market in Lagos to steal boxer shorts and he was caught through CCTV camera.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Super Saver Super Market located at Asa Afarogun Street, Ajao Estate area of Lagos, where Ezeani also resides.
It was gathered that the suspect went to the super market, pretended that he wanted to buy some items and went round the store to pick those items he needed.
However, Ezeani had no money on him but only went there to steal. He reportedly stole the set of boxer shots, hid it in his body and attempted to escape before the security guard apprehended and handed him over to the Police at Ajao Division.
The boxer shorts were also recovered as exhibit by the Police. The cost of the boxer shorts was valued N5,800 only.
It was gathered that when Ezeani was eventually caught, he pleaded with them and offered to pay for the items but the management insisted that he must be prosecuted to serve as deterrent to others who might try such in future.
He was charged before Ejigbo Magistrates Court for stealing and he pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Supol Kenneth Asibor, asked the Court to give a date for the Police to prove that Ezeani actually committed the offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mr. T.O Shomade, granted Ezeani bail in the sum of N10,000 with one surety in like sum.
He was remanded in prison custody pending when he will perfect his bail conditions. The matter was adjourned till 20th November, 2019.
