MICHAEL AKINOLA

A 24-year old man, Raymond Friday, had a nasty experience while engaging a woman, Adebayo Shakirat, in a public fight in Ayobo area of Lagos State as she overpowered and reportedly beat him mercilessly.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that as the fight went on, the woman, Shakirat, was said to have tried to chock him. In order to regain himself, Friday held Shakira’s finger and bite off her thumb, which caused her grevious injury during the brawl.

The action has landed Friday in trouble as the matter was reported to the Police at Ayobo Division. He was arrested and charged for the alleged assault under the Criminal Laws of the State.

The cause of the fight between Friday and Shakirat was not disclosed by the Police. But the Police alleged that Friday used his teeth to bite off the victim’s thumb and she was said to have bled profusely before she was taken to an undisclosed hospital for treatment.

While the suspect was arrested and detained at the station for interrogation over his conduct, he admitted to have done so because the complainant almost chocked him up during the fight.

Therefore, the Police found him culpable and charged him before the Ogba Magistrate Court for the alleged offence.

However, he pleaded not guilty.

The prosecutor, Supol Akeem Raji, then asked the Court to give a date for hearing since he pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that he actually committed the alleged offence.

The Presiding Magistrate, Mr. L.A. Owolabi, granted him bail with two sureties, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment while addresses will be verified by the Court.

The matter was adjourned for mention while the defendant was remanded in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, pending when he will perfect his bail conditions.
