Man, 24, Docked For Burgling Shop & Carting Away N5m Phone Accessories

A 24-year old man, Anifa Asale, has been arrested and charged in Lagos State for allegedly burgling a shop and carting away phone accessories worth over N5m belonging to Andrew Ogenyi 

 

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened on 22nd of October, 2025, at Joke Ayo, Alagbado, Lagos, where the burgled shop.

 

According to the Police,  the suspect and others now at large, conspired, burgled the shop, carted away the items at night and escaped.

 

The complainant later discovered that the shop was burgled and the items were stolen. He reported the matter to the Police at Alagbado Division. The Police operatives moved into action, eventually arrested and detained the suspect at the station for interrogation.

 

After thorough interrogation, the Police found him culpable and charged him before the Ogba Magistrate Court for the alleged offence which attracts several years of imprisonment.

 

The charges read :

COUNT 1: “That you Anifa Asale ‘m’ on the 22nd of October, 2025 at about 0300hrs at Joke Ayo, Alagbado, Lagos State, in the Ikeja Magisterial District, did conspire among yourselves to burgle the shop of one Andrew Ogenyi ‘m’ and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 307(a) of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.”

 

COUNT II: “That you, Anifa Asale ‘m’ and others at large on the same date time and place, in the aforementioned Magisterial District, did steal phone accessories, power banks and JB speakers valued the sum of Five Million Eight housand Naira, property of one Andrew Ogenyi,  ‘m’ and also stealing one Samsung A06 phone value Two Hundred Thousand Naira, property of one Jekunle Adebowale ‘m’ total valued Six Million Naira and thereby committed offence contrary to and punishable under Section 287 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.”

 

However, he pleaded not guilty.

 

The prosecutor,Supol Josephine Ihkayere then asked the Court to give a date for hearing since he pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that he actually committed the alleged offence that brought him before the Court.

 

The Presiding Magistrate, Mr. L.A. Owolabi, granted him bail with two sureties, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment while addresses will be verified by the Court.

 

The matter was adjourned for mention while the defendant was remanded in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when he will perfect his bail conditions.
