A 24-year old man, Mohammed Musa, has been arrested and charged in Lagos State for allegedly killing his rival, John Imo, 35, by using a cutlass on him during a squabble.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Queens Street, Alagomeji area of Yaba, Lagos, where they reside.
He has been charged before the Ebute Metta Magistrate Court for the alleged murder, which attracts several years of imprisonment or life imprisonment.
According to the Police, the suspect had a disagreement with the deceased over an undisclosed matter and he threatened that he will kill him. But the deceased doubted him claiming that he cannot do it.
Unknown to the deceased, the suspect was angry that he doubted him. And to prove that he was capable of doing so,  he quietly went for the cutlass and used give him cuts on his body until he bled to death.
Though he was rushed to an undisclosed hospital for treatment, before he will be treated, he was already dead. The Doctors only certified him dead and the corpse was deposited at mortuary for autopsy report.
The matter was reported to the Police at Sabo Division and the suspect was arrested and transferred to the SCID at Yaba for further investigation over the alleged murder.
After rounds of interrogation, the Police found him culpable and consequently charged him before the Court for the alleged offence.
However, the Court did not take his plea when he was arraigned following a motion moved by the prosecutor, Supol Cousin Adams, asking the Court  to  refer the matter to the DPP for legal advice.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. F.F. George, ordered his remand in custody of the correctional centre at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when the DPP’s report will be ready and directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send it to the DPP for legal advice.
The matter was adjourned for mention for the report of the DPP’s advice to be available, which will determine if the matter will be transferred to the High Court or not over jurisdiction.
