A 24-year old man, Joseph Christopher, has landed in trouble in Lagos State after he allegedly lured a 15-year old girl to a popular hotel and engaged her in sex romp but was spotted by one of their neighbours.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the suspect, Christopher, has been arrested by the Police for sleeping with a minor.
The incident happened at the popular TipTop Hotel, located at Iyana Ipaja area of Lagos State.
The suspect was alleged to have confused the girl, took her to the hotel and later allowed her to go having satisfied himself unknown to him that one of their neighbours saw them and informed the girl’s parents.
The matter was reported to the Police in the area and Christopher was arrested. He was later transferred to the Gender Section of the Lagos State Police Command for interrogation.
During interrogation, he admitted to have slept with the girl but with her consent. However, the Police found him culpable because the victim is still a minor under the law.
Hence, he was charged before the Ogba Magistrates Court for the alleged offence.
When he was arraigned, the Court did not take his plea following a motion moved by the prosecutor, Supol Akeem Raji, asking the Court to refer the matter to the DPP for advice.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. B.O.Osunsanmi, ordered his remand in custody pending the outcome of the DPP’s advice without an option of bail while the matter was adjourned till 14th December, 2022, for mention for the report of the DPP’s advice to be ready, which will determine if the matter will be transferred to the High Court or not over jurisdiction.
