A 24-year old man, Obuneme Jacob, has been arrested and charged in Lagos State for allegedly stealing his elder sister’s tricycle, selling it for N50,000 and using the money to buy drinks.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the man’s sister, Favour Jacob, brought the suspect, Obuneme, to Lagos, bought the tricycle with registration number, EPE 788 QK, for him to start his life from there after he would have refunded her the sum of N610,000 and the tricycle will belong to him.
However, one week after he rode the tricycle, he allegedly sold it and spent the money on drinks without informing the sister.
The whole thing got exposed after some days when the sister asked him about the the tricycle. He then told her that he had sold it because it developed faults while he was ridng it on the road.
Angered by his action, the sister reported the matter to the Police at Isheri Oshun Division; he was arrested and detained at the station for interrogation and possibly to recover the tricycle.
During interrogation, he told the Police that he actually sold it. He was found culpable and consequently charged before the Ejigbo Magistrate Court for stealing.
However,  he pleaded not guilty when he was arraigned.
The prosecutor, Supol Benedict Aigbokhan, then asked the Court to give a date for hearing since he pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that he actually committed the alleged offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. K.A. Ariyo, granted him bail in the sum of N200, 000 with two sureties in like sum and one of the sureties will be his blood relation with means of livelihood.
He was remanded in custody at the Correctional Centre at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when he will perfect his bail conditions while the matter was adjourned till 26th August, 2023, for mention.
