A 24-year old man, Okoghe Abayomi, has been arrested for allegedly stealing one loaf of bread and two packs of spaghetti at Jendol Superstore in Lagos State.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Jendol Superstore at Ebule-Egba area of Lagos.
The suspect, Abayomi, was caught with the items and the t-shirts belonging to the company. He was handed over to the Police at Oke-Oba Division for prosecution for stealing the items in order to serve as a deterrent to others who might want to steal at the Superstore.
According to the Police, the suspect went to the place in the evening and stole the items. And while he was trying to escape, the security guards on duty caught him and recovered the items as exhibits.
He was said to have pleaded with and explained to the Superstore management that he wanted to eat the items because he was hungry. But his plea was not accepted as the management insisted that he must be prosecuted.
At the Police Station, some of the officers were said to have as well pleaded and even offered to pay for the items but the management insisted that they wanted justice and that if they allowed him to go free, others might try such in future.
The Police found him culpable and consequently charged before the Ogba Magistrate Court. He was arraigned and thereafter remanded in the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when he will perfect his bail conditions.

This case is totally different from what I heard.
The customer stole a lot o, I heard plus even shirt. Jendol only called police to arrest him and that's all they know.
I think the decision of taking him to prison might have been by the police.
This case should be properly investigated before conclusion.

Omo those people are trying and their reputation shouldn't be tarnished just like that.
This is a malicious write up.
Can Nigeria Police in the first place beg to pay for a thief? We should know that the writer is writing purposely to bring down the store.
This is confirmed from the management of Jendol and the theft incident actually happened, as it happens everyday, the man in question was handed over to Police but was never charged to Court by Jendol Superstores, neither was Jendol Superstores begged at any point in time
Police decided to charge the man to court with the claim that, he cannot be kept under their custody for too long and therefore charged to court with other people on ground.
Verification can be done from the DPO of Abule Egbe Police Station
