Man, 25, Arraigned For Allegedly Stealing N10.5m Farm Fetilizer

A 25-year old man, Iliyasu Yakubu, has been arrested and charged in Lagos State for allegedly stealing 280 bags of farm fertilizer worth N10.5m belonging to Suleman Tanko.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened on 8th October, 2025, at the Free Trade Zone area of Lekki, Lagos.
According to the Police, the suspect conspired and stole the items where they were packed and escaped. When the complainant discovered that the items were missing, he reported to the Police.
The Police, through the Tactical team, moved into action, eventually arrested the suspect and detained him for interrogation over the missing items.
After the investigation, the Police found him culpable and charged him before the Ogba Magistrate Court for the alleged offence, which attracts several years of imprisonment.
The charges read:
COUNTI: “That you, Iliyasu Yakubu ‘m’ and others still at large on the 8th day of October, 2025, at about 0900hrs conspired amongst yourselves to commit felony to wit: stealing and thereby committed on offence contrary to and punishable under Section 411 of the criminal law of Lagos State 2015.”
COUNT II: “That you, Iliyasu Yakubu ‘m’ and others still at large on the 8th day of October, 2025, at about 0900hrs at Free Trade Zone area of Lekki, Lagos State, in the Lagos State magisterial district, did steal Two Hundred and Eighty (280) bags of farm fertilizer valued Ten Million Five Hundred Thousand Naira (N10,500,000.00), property of one Suleman Tanko ‘m’ and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 200 and punishable under Section 287 of the criminal law of Lagos State 2015.”
However, he pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Supol Philip Ademigbuji, then asked the Court to give a date for hearing since he pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that he actually committed the alleged offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. O. Kusanu, granted him bail with two sureties, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment while addresses will be verified by the Court.
The matter was adjourned for mention while the defendant was remanded in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when he will perfect his bail conditions.
