Man, 25, Arraigned For Carting Away N7.5m Electricity Cables

A 25-year old man, Alex Ibrahim, has been arrested and charged in Lagos State for allegedly vandalizing and stealing electricity cables worth N7.5m belonging to Sunday Alele.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened on 9th August, 2025, at Church Close, Isheri North GRA Lagos.
According to the Police, the suspect vandalized and carted away the items at night. He was trying to escape before he was caught by security men and handed over to the Police at Isheri Police station for interrogation and prosecution over his alleged conduct.
After interrogation, the Police found him culpable and charged him before the Ogba Magistrate Court for the alleged offence which attracts several years of imprisonment.
The charge read:
“That you, Alex Ibrahim ‘M’, on the 9/08/25 at about 2100hrs at No 11A Church Close Isheri North GRA Opic Lagos, in the Ikeja Magisterial District, did steal Electric Cables valued N7.5 Million, property of one Sunday Alele ‘M’ and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 287 of criminal law of Lagos State 2015.”
However, he pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Supol Josephine Ihkayere, then asked the Court to give a date for hearing since he pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that he actually committed the alleged offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mr. L.A. Owolabi, granted him bail in the sum of N800,000 with two sureties in like sum who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment while addresses will be verified by the Court.
The matter was adjourned for mention while the defendant was remanded in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when he will perfect his bail conditions.
