A 25-year old man, Oyinchimaobi Agu, has arrested in Lagos after he was allegedly caught inside an uncompleted building having sex with an 11-year old girl.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened opposite Olugbuwa Wagbara Estate, Igbogbo area of Ikorodu, Lagos, where they reside.
The Police alleged that the suspect, Agu, lured the victim to the uncompleted building and engaged her in the act before they were caught and handed over to the Police the area.
Thereafter, he was transferred to the Gender Section of the Police Command for interrogation. While being interrogated there, he admitted to have done so with the consent of the girl.
However, the Police found him culpable and subsequently charged him before the Ogba Magistrates Court for statutory rape by engaging the girl in the act being a minor.
The Court did not take his plea after the prosecutor, Supol Victor Eruada, asked the Court to refer the matter to the DPP for advice.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. M.O.Tonimola, ordered his remand in Correctional Centre at Kirikiri town, Lagos, without an option of bail.
The Court also directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send to the DPP while the matter was adjourned till 6th November 2021, for the report of the DPP to be ready.
The matter may likely be transferred to the High Court if the DPP finds him culpable and recommends his trial for the alleged offence over jurisdiction.
