Man, 25, Caught Having Sex With Girl, 13, On The Street

Police operatives from Olosan Division, Mushin area of Lagos, led by the DPO, CSP Ayodele Arogbo, have arrested a 25-year old man, Zuberu Kamilu, who allegedly engaged a 13-year old girl in sex very early in the morning on the street.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened along Agege Motor Road, Mushin area of Lagos, where they reside.

The victim was said to be in the habit of sneaking out of her guardian’s place to the street in order to have sex with the suspect, Kamilu. Unknown to them, the Police got information about their amorous activity, trailed and eventually caught them in the act.
They were both taken to the Police Station where they reportedly confessed to have been having sex in front of the shops along the street before they were caught.
The 13-year old victim claimed that the suspect, Kamilu, warned him not to tell anyone and she kept it to herself without informing her guardian.
After interrogation, the Police found Kamilu culpable because the girl was still a minor and then charged him before the Ogba Magistrates Court for defilement which attracts several years of imprisonment.
However, the prosecutor, Inspector Edet Akadu, asked the Court to refer the matter to the DPP for advice since the victim was still a minor.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mr. K.O.Ogundare, ordered him remanded in prison custody without an option of bail. The Court also directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send to the DPP for advice.
The matter was adjourned till 26th February, 2020.
P.M.EXPRESS gathered that the matter may be transferred to the High Court if the DPP finds him culpable and recommends his trial for the alleged offence.
