Man, 25, Docked For Using Dog To Attack Ikeja Electric Staff Over Disconnection

A staff of Ikeja Electric company,  Joshua Akintaro, had a nasty experience in Lagos State after he went to disconnect electricity supply over accumulated bills and he narrowly escaped death in the process.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that one of the residents, Tony Owen, launched an attack on him while he was on top of the pole with his Pitbull dog while executing his lawful duty.
The incident happened on 11th November, 2025, at No 25, Idiorogbo Street, Ayobo area of Lagos.
The suspect, Tony Owen, has been arrested and charged for attempting to kill, threatening and intimidating the victim.
According to the Police, the complainant went to the area to enforce disconnection of electricity over accumulated bills and climbed the pole to enforce it as directed by the management.
The suspect was said to have pulled the ladder, he fell down and he ordered his dog to attack him before he was eventually rescued and he managed to escape.
The matter was reported to the Police at Ayobo Division. The suspect was arrested and detained at the station for interrogation over his alleged conduct against the victim.
After thorough interrogation,  the Police found him culpable and charged him before the Ogba Magistrate Court for the alleged offence, which attracts several years of imprisonment.
The charges read:
COUNT 1: “That you, Tony Owen, on the 11th day of November, 2025, at about 1215hrs, at  25, Idiorogbo, Ayobo, Lagos, in the Ikeja Magisterial District, did attempt to unlawfully kill the victim while on top of the electric pole, with intent to eliminate his life while executing his duty thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 168 (a) of the criminal law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.”
COUNT II:”That you, Tony Owen, on the same day, time, and place in the aforementioned Magisterial District, did intimidate, threaten and provoke one JOSHUA AKINTARO ‘M’ a staff Ikeja Electric by launching your Pitbull dog against him while executing his lawful duty and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 56 (a) of the criminal laws of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.”
However, he pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Inspector Lucky Ihiehie, asked the Court to give a date for hearing since he pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that he actually committed the alleged offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. M.O.Tanimola, granted him bail with two sureties, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment while addresses will be verified by the Court.
The matter was adjourned for mention while the defendant was remanded in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when he will perfect his bail conditions.
