A 26-year old man, Sunday Junior, has been arrested and charged in Lagos State for allegedly battering a lady, Ajose Oluwatosin Adesewa and inflicting injury on her.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened on 10th November, 2025, at Ojojo Estate, Mende, Maryland, Lagos, over an undisclosed matter.
According to the Police, the suspect had a disagreement with the complainant which led to exchange of words and a fight. And in the process, the suspect inflicted injury on her with punches and allegedly stole her phone.
The matter was reported to the Police at Anthony Division. The suspect was arrested and detained at the station for interrogation over his alleged conduct against the complainant.
After interrogation, the Police found him culpable and charged him before the Ogba Magistrate Court for the alleged offence.
The charges read:
“That you, Sunday Junior ‘m’ on the 10 day of November, 2025 at about 0800hrs at No. 1 Ojojo Estate, Mende, Maryland, Lagos, within Ikeja Magisterial district, did unlawfully assault one Ajose Oluwatosin Adesewa ‘F, by punching fist blows all over her body and also kicked her with your legs which caused her harm on her right hand and on her right leg and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 173 of the criminal laws of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2015.”
COUNT II:”That you, Sunday Junior ‘m’ on same date, time and place in the aforementioned magisterial district, did steal the sum of Three Thousand Naira (N3,000.00) property of one Ajose Oluwatosin Adesewa ‘f’ and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 287 of the criminal laws of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2015.”
However, he pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Supol Josephine Ihkayere, then asked the Court to give a date for hearing since he pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that he actually committed the alleged offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mr. L.A. Owolabi, granted him bail with two sureties, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment while addresses will be verified by the Court.
The matter was adjourned for mention while the defendant was remanded in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when he will perfect his bail conditions.
