A Prophet at the Lord’s Chosen Church, Anayochukwu Reuben, has been hospitalized and confined to a wheelchair in Lagos State after he was brutally attacked and sustained serious injuries from a man, who claimed that he gave him fake prophecy in the Church.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at the Church Headquarters in Ijesha, Lagos, where Prophet Reuben was said to be one of the Lord’s Chosen Church Prophets.
The 26-year old man, Solomon Akpannu, has been arrested and charged for attempted murder over his alleged conduct.
At the moment, Prophet Reuben cannot walk and can only move with the aid of a wheelchair due to the injury he sustained during the attack.
Prophet Reuben, who has a shop at the premises of the church, was said to as well had the gift of vision, which he combines with the shoe business at the church.
He was said to have met the suspect, Akpannu, who is a member of the Ebuka Obi Zion Church and gave him the first prophecy on why he business was not moving forward. He was asked to buy coconut and dry gin, then pray and use it to take his bath, which he did and his business seemed to improve and he informed Prophet Reuben.
After some days, Prophet Reuben then gave him another prophecy and told Akpannu that his sister will die unless he will performs certain prayers, which the Prophet Reuben will conduct by himself that will involve certain amount of money.
This angered Akpannu who went to the market, bought a cutlass and torchlight, then went to Prophet Reuben’s shop inside the church premises, inflicted injury both on his leg and hand and escaped.
The victim was rushed to an undisclosed hospital, where he is being treated and matter was reported to the Police. The operatives trailed Akpannu, arrested and detained him for interrogation over his conduct.
During interrogation, Akpannu told the Police that Prophet Reuben instilled fear into him by giving him fake prophecy that his only sister will die by January, 2023 and he quickly decided to kill the Prophet so that what he said will not happen to the sister.
The Police found him culpable and subsequently charged him before the Isolo Magistrate Court for willfully damaging his shop and attempting to murder the victim, Prophet Reuben.
The Court did not take his plea when he was arraigned following a motion moved by the prosecutor, Mr. Oje Uagbale, asking the Court to refer the matter to the DPP for legal advice.
Hence, the Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. O.A. Akokhia, ordered his remand in custody at the Correctional Centre pending the outcome of the DPP’s advice and directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send it to the DPP.
The matter was adjourned till 23rd May, 2023, for report of the DPP’s advice to be made available, which will determine if the matter will be transferred to the High Court or not over jurisdiction.
