A 27-year old man, Sopetie Adekunle, has landed in trouble in Lagos State for allegedly luring and engaging a 17-year old girl in sex after fondling her breasts.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Adesanya Close off Baale Animashuan Street, Alakuko area of Lagos State, where they reside.
The suspect, Sopetie, was alleged to have lured the victim into his apartment, fondled her breasts, which got her confused and was unable to resist him before he eventually had sex with her.
Having satisfied himself, he allowed her to go but the victim reported what happened to her parents and the matter was reported to the Police. He was then arrested and detained for interrogation over his conduct.
In the course of interrogation, he denied defiling her and claimed that he did it with her consent.
But the Police found him culpable because the victim is still a minor and subsequently charged him before the Ogba Magistrates Court for the alleged offence.
The Court denied him bail and ordered his remand in custody at the Correctional Centre at Kirikiri town, Lagos, after the prosecutor, Inspector Lucky Ihiehie, moved a motion asking the Court to refer the matter to the DPP for advice.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. O.A. Layinka, ordered his remand and directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send it to the DPP for advice.
The matter was adjourned till 7th March, 2023, for mention for the report of the DPP’s advice to be available, which will determine if the matter will be transferred to the High Court or not over jurisdiction.
