The management of Paramount Hotel in Lagos had a nasty experience recently after a supposed customer, Kelvin Ogbe, who lodged in the hotel, paid them over N1m with fake bank credit alert for three bedroom apartment and it turned out to be a scam

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Ajisafe Street, GRA area of Ikeja, Lagos, where the hotel is located.

However, Ogbe was later caught in the act having lodged in the hotel for several weeks enjoying the amenities provided before the management discovered the alleged fraud.

He was arrested and charged before the Court for for conspiracy, obtaining under false pretence and stealing.

The Police alleged that defendant, Ogbe and others now at large, met the hotel management, booked for lodging and made payment with the fake bank alert.
Initially, the management felt it was genuine and gave out the apartment to Ogbe without any suspicion until they  later verified the alert, which later disappeared showing that it was fake.

He was handed over to the Police at Ikeja Division, who interrogated him and found him culpable for the alleged fraud.

The Police charged him before the Ogba Magistrates Court, where he pleaded not guilty for the alleged offence.

The prosecutor, Inspector Kenrich Nomayo, asked the Court to give a date for hearing since he pleaded not guilty before the Court to enable the Police to prove that he actually committed the alleged offence.

The Presiding Magistrate,  Mrs. R.A. Alejo, granted him bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum.

He was remanded in correctional centre at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when he will perfect his bail Conditions while the matter was further adjourned till 1st June 2022 for mention.
