A 27-year old man, Oshim Nwabu, has landed in trouble in Lagos State for allegedly luring his neighbour’s 15-year old girl into sex by fondling her breasts, getting her confused and unable to resist him.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the suspect,  Nwabu, has been arrested and charged for sexual assault over his alleged conduct.
The incident happened at Effonalaye Street, Shasha area of Lagos, where they reside.
According to the Police, the suspect lured the victim into his apartment, used words of mouth to confuse her before fondling her breasts, which got her more confused and he penetrated her without any resistance.
However, the victim later regained her senses and raised alarm, which attracted other neighbours including her parents and she revealed what happened.
The matter was reported to the Police at the Family Support Unit in Ikotun Division. The suspect, Nwabu, was arrested and detained at the station for interrogation over his alleged conduct.
The suspect claimed that he did so with her consent but that did not save him because the victim is still a minor in the eyes of the law. The Police found him culpable and consequently charged him before the Ogba Magistrate Court for the alleged offence, which attracts several years of imprisonment.
The charge read:
“That you, Oshim Nwabu ‘m’ Of No. 31, Effonalaye Street, Shasha, Lagos, between 0000hrs-0200hrs in the Lagos Magisterial District, did sexually assault one girl, 15years old, by penetrating her vagina with your manhood and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 261, of the Lagos State Criminal Law, 2015.”
The Court did not take his plea following a motion moved by the prosecutor,  Inspector Lucky Ihiehie, asking the Court to give a date and refer the matter to the DPP for legal advice.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. M.O. Tanimola, ordered his remand in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending the outcome of the DPP’s advice and directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send it to the DPP for advice.
The matter was adjourned for mention for the report of the DPP’s advice to be available, which will determine if the matter will be transferred to the High Court or not over jurisdiction.
