A 28-year old man, Mustapha Folarin, has been arrested and charged in Lagos State for allegedly stabbing another man, David Dosumu, with a broken bottle for refusing to allow him to eat from the Suya meat the victim bought.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened on 6th September, 2025, at Olorunsola Ayobo area of Lagos.

According to the Police, the complainant,  Dosumu, bought suya meat and was eating it when the suspect wanted to join him but the complainant refused. The suspect became angry and started abusing the complainant. In the process, he broke a bottle and stabbed the victim on the neck.

The complainant was said to have bled profusely and was rushed to an undisclosed hospital for treatment while the matter was reported to the Police at Ayobo Division. The Police operatives arrested the suspect and detained him at the station for interrogation over his alleged conduct.

After thorough interrogation, the Police found him culpable and charged him before the Ogba Magistrate Court for the alleged offence which attracts several years of imprisonment.

The charges read:

COUNT 1: “That you, MUSTAPHA FOLARIN ‘M’ on the 6th day of September, 2025, did conduct yourself in a manner likely to cause breach of peace at Olorunsola Ayobo, Lagos, in the Ikeja Magisterial District, by using vulgar language on one David Dosumu ‘m’ which caused him an embarrassment and discomfort because he disallowed you  from eating the suya he bought, and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 168(d) of criminal laws of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2015.”

COUNT II: “That you, MUSTAPHA FOLARIN ‘M’ on the same date, time and place in The Aforementioned Magisterial District, did unlawfully break a bottle and used it to stab one David Dosunmu ‘m’ on his neck and caused a deep cut, which endangered his life and thereby committed an ‘offence contrary to and punishable under Section 230(b) of criminal laws of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2015.”

However, he pleaded not guilty.

The prosecutor, Supol Philip Ademigbuji, asked the Court to give a date for hearing since he pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that he actually committed the alleged offence.

The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. O. Kusanu, granted him bail with sureties, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment while addresses will be verified by the Court.

The matter was adjourned for mention while the defendant was remanded in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when he will perfect his bail conditions.
