Man, 28, Arrested Over Sex With Girl, 8

An 8-year old girl was allegedly defiled after she was reportedly lured with biscuits and engaged in sex by their 28-year old neighbour, Adetayo Razaq, in Lagos.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Alladi Ijelu Street, Agunfoye, Ikorodu area of Lagos, where they reside.

However, the dastardly act was exposed after the victim had severe pains in her private part and informed her father about what happened to her.

This was disclosed by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Bala Elkana, who said that the suspect, Rasaq, was in Police custody undergoing interrogation over the act.

He said that on 9th April, 2020, at about 0800hrs, one (name withheld) ‘m’ of Gegenla Area, Agunfoye, Ikorodu reported at Ikorodu Police Station that he returned home and met his 8-year old daughter (name withheld) in pains, complaining of discomfort and stomach aches. 

The father had left the girl with her two brothers ages 10 and 12  as their parents were separated and living apart. On inquiry, she told her father that on 31st March, 2020, one Adetayo Razaq ‘m’ 28 years old of Alladi Ijelu Street, Agunfoye, Ikorodu, gave her biscuits and took her to his room where he had carnal knowledge of her.  

Following the revelation, the matter was reported to the Police; the suspect was arrested and undergoing interrogation.

DSP Elkana said that the victim was taken to the hospital for treatment and forensic examination while the suspect, a tiller and father of two, was arrested by detectives from the Juvenile Welfare Centre, Ikorodu Police Station.

Elkana stated that the Commissioner of Police, Mr. Hakeem Odumosu, has directed that the case be transferred to Gender Unit, Command Headquarters Ikeja, for discreet investigation and diligent prosecution. 

The suspect will be charged to Court if the Police at Gender Unit finds him culpable and recommends that he should be charged before the Court for defilement which attracts several years of imprisonment if he is found guilty.
