A 28-year old man, Fidelis William, has landed in trouble after he sneaked into a married woman’s apartment when her husband went to work.
The suspect, Fidelis, was caught as a robber and handed over to the police but he insisted that he was not a criminal but visited the woman, Mrs. Mojisola Emmanuel, because he knew her husband was not around that night.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Oladimeji Street in Abaranje, Ikotun area of Lagos where the woman resides with her husband.
He was confronted and asked to explain what he went to the apartment to do at the Ikotun Police Division but he declined insisting that he was not a thief. Though there was no exhibit found on him to suggest he stole any item from the apartmemt but his action was found suspicious by the police. Some of the residents said that he may have sneaked into the house to steal or to have intimate relationship with the woman.
However, the Police found him culpable and charged before the Ejigbo Magistrates Court for conduct likely to cause breach of public peace and attempt to commit felony.
He pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Inspector G. Simon, asked the Court for adjournment to enable the police to prove the charge against him.
Thus, the Presiding Magistrate, Mr. L.K.J. Layeni, granted him bail in the sum of N100,000 with one surety in like sum.
He was remanded in prison custody pending when he will perfect his bail conditions.
The matter was adjourned till 13th May, 2019.
