Man, 28, In Police Net Over Secret S*x With Girl, 14

Police Intelligence operatives in Lagos State have arrested a 28-year old man, Pope Oganla, for secretly engaging a 14-year old girl in sex for 7 years.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the suspect allegedly started abusing the girl since 2015 when she was 7 years old till sometime in October 2021 when he was caught and then exposed by the girl over the dastardly act.
The incident happened at Ishawo Road, Ikorodu area of Lagos, where they reside. 

The Police alleged the suspect to have abused the girl by tempering with her private part by putting his fingers before he eventually penetrated and defiled her.

He reportedly instilled fear into the girl and warned her not to tell anybody what he was doing to her over the years and she kept it to herself.
However, the act was exposed when the girl revealed it to her parents and the matter was reported to the Police. He was then arrested and transferred to the Gender Section of the Command for interrogation over the alleged offence.

After thorough interrogation, the Police found him culpable. He was subsequently charged before the Ogba Magistrates Court for the alleged offence.When he was arraigned, the Court did not take his plea following a motion by the prosecutor, Mr. Victor Eruada, asking the Court to refer the matter to the DPP for advice.

The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. M.O. Tanimola, ordered his remand in custody and directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send it to the DPP while the matter was adjourned till 25th January, 2022, for report of the DPP to be ready, which will determine if the matter will be transferred to the High Court or not over jurisdiction.
